Choosing WiFi signal
I have installed an AC1200 modem/router. When I go to choose a connection from a devise, it gives me to choices: 2.4 GHz and 5GHz. Does it matter which I select? Why are there two signals?
AC1200 is a speed. so we're not sure what model you have. But that speed makes it look like a dual band router.
Dual band routers have a 2.4ghz signal and a 5ghz signal.
2.4ghz can transmit further and through more materials but is much slower. Its also more sensitive to interference.
5ghz is much faster, has less interference but doesn't broadcast as far or through as much.
Attach to whichever on you want.
