Apparently I expected too much from this company. They are clearly fledgly and have poor programmers. -Why isn't the login https? -Why is my password and SSID scrolling on the manin screen? ...

Maybe because you don't understand the difference between access on your local network, where https is not a deal breaker, and remote "anywhere" access where you need, and Netgear demands, https.
But Netgear is pandering to those who insist on https for local control, and browser makers who are also a bit confused, and seems to be adding it, even though it makes very little difference.
Have you looked at other router brands? You might be surprised by what you discover.
