CM700 and R6400
I just connected a CM700 cable modem to replace a CM400. I have an R6400 router. When I run the speed test in my Nighthawk app I get 210mbs download and 15mbs upload from my 200mbs service, but an Oo...

They were about 10-15ft from the router. They got about 35mbs. I decided to replace the r6400 with a Google Nest Wifi system connected to my CM700 modem. Thank you for trying to help, but I just don't have the knowledge or experience to deal with the settings, etc. I'm heading toward simple.

Are these speed test wired or wireless? Wired is preferred. Also the R series router is getting to be a bit older in generation so something you may want to consider upgrading.

Thank you. The tests are wireless. I did suspect my router could be the problem, but I wanted some confirmation from people more knowledgeable than me. That includes most people!

Wireless speeds maybe slower on your older router. Also depends on your wireless device that your using.
Wired speeds should be to spec however. WIred will always be better than wireless.

You didn't put if you're testing over 2.4ghz or 5ghz.
2.4ghz is much much slower than 5ghz and its more sensitive to interference.

I just used the speed test in the Nighthawk app using the 2.4 network. My router is the R6400 version 1 so it is pretty sure to be outdated and probably slowing things down. It is about 5 years old and we are up to 30+ devices. I'm trying to figure out which router to buy. No gaming, so I don't need that capability. Our house is a one-story about 2500sf. The router closet is in the middle of the house and we currently get a pretty good signal throughout. We have 200mbs cable service from Northland/Vyve Cable. Any ideas? Thanks

What device are you testing on?
Make sure to test with a 5ghz device and one that supports 2x2 antenna solutions.
The R6400 isn't a bad router and it should be able to function pretty solid with a 200mbps services.
