Connecting CG3000 cable modem with R6220
Hello I have a Netgear CG3000 cable modem hard erthernet cable connected with a Netgear R6220 to extend the range. It works but the R6220 has been setup with a different SSID so there is no roam...
- Sep 19, 2017Yes, change it to be the same. Make sure the R6220 and CG3000 have some distances separating them. You don't want to sitting too close together.
It would be best to use WPA2-PSK [AES] exclusively. It's the most secure option.

Thank you for this reply
I understand from your message that I should login to the R6220 (slave) and set it to be an access point per your instructions.
Should I also change the SSID on the R6220 to be the same as the SSID on the CG3000 router?
Also, I note that the encryption is not set the same on the two devices
CG3000 - WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]
R6220 - WPA2-PSK [AES]
does this matter?
