Customized DNS Problems on WAC104
I just bought a WAC104 AP to connect behind my Netgear router. My plan is to use the AP for kids and guests with custom DNS settings for filtering. I've gone into the WAC104 settings and changed the DNS settings to the ones provided by the filtering company and it appears to save them but the AP is still looking to the router for it's DNS server and ignoring the custom settings in I input into it. If I filter at the main router with the custom DNS settings, all is well but I've got it blocking social media, Youtube etc that I do not want blocked on the main router. Again to be clear, I'm wanting the AP to use a filtered DNS while the router uses unfiltered DNS.
In the WAC104 under Used Fixed IP Address (not recomended) I have these settings:
IP Address: 192.168.1.16
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Primary DNS: (the address provided by the filter company)
Secondary DNS: (the address provided by the filter company)
When I connect to the AP and ipconfig /all it shows the DNS server as 192.168.1.1 which is obviously ignoring my custom settings.
Does anyone have any input on how I can solve this? If I can't get this to work, there is no need in me even having the AP.
Thanks
