Not much meat on that bone. _Where_ "in Netgear's Genie"?

You may need only a router, but a D6220 should be able to act as only
a router. If your problem is not configuring your D6220 properly as a
router, then you might have similar problems configuring any other
router as a router, too.
Does your ISP provide any instructions on how to attach/configure a
router to work with their ONT interface? Do you have any reason to
believe that "ISP logon details" are needed with this (non-DSL?)
connection? Have you done a settings reset on the D6220, and let it try
to puzzle out its new environment?

Not a very detailed description of anything. Does it have a maker
and model number? Or any documentation?

Huh? Which hole on which device is connected to which other hole on
which other device? Hint: If a device has multiple Ethernet ports, then
"connected to device" is not enough detail. Are there LED indicators on
these devices? What do they indicate?

Are you connecting anything to the DSL port on the D6220? (What?
Why?) If you're not using DSL, then I wouldn't expect the D6220 to
indicate a DSL connection.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Look for "Set Up the Modem
Router for Cable Service"? Further reading might also be helpful.

I don't see why it wouldn't be, but, like the other non-psychics in
your audience, I know little to nothing about _your_ "Fibre connection".
