Devices
Router: R6300v2
- Firmware: V1.0.3.22_10.1.13SW
TV: LG 70UN7070PUA / Web OS 5.21
Printer: Brothers MFC J895DW
Background
I did a reset of my router because I lost the admin password and when I reconnected all of my devices I’m running into some issues. All of my devices can connect to the same 2.4Ghz network and connect to the Internet. The issue is they can’t see each other.
For example:
I can’t connect to my printer from my laptop or phone.
I can’t connect to my TV from my phone.
Datapoints
As part of the troubleshooting, I gave my printer a static IP and was able to connect to it. It’s a good work around but doesn’t seem ideal because a lot of apps seem to depend on discovering it.
When I go to the Netgear genie and look at the attached devices, the MAC address for my tv and printer are there but the name and IP are blank. I did see my tv show up briefly on this list but then disappeared. My phone and laptops do show up.
I verified that all devices are on the same network.
It appears that the router is not remembering or registering these devices. This might be the root issue but I’m not sure how to resolve it.
Questions
Any advice on how to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.

- I was able to resolve the issue by switching security from: WPA2-PSK [AES]
to: WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]
I don’t know the mechanics but I assume this allows for the needed handshake.
