Disappointed as a new customer.
As a new customer I was EXTREEMLY disappointed that NetGear, Aan Old tried and true company has fallen to such lows. You can't do the original install unless you do it from you PHONE! It took me almo...

sorry to hear you had such a bad experience.
You don't need a phone to do setup. when you get to the setup page and it says "use the app", at the bottom, there's a link you can click to setup in the browser.
There's a support site with access to manuals, firmware, install guides, etc.
Go to https://www.netgear.com/support/
Type in your model number and from there it'll take you to the above.

Even You lame CS agents could not give me any advice for finding the manuals or any way to set it up from my computer other than it was possible. Whne YOUR people don't know how I have no idea how I am supposed to find it. You have your information spread out far and wide all over the web instead of consolidated in one place and DESIGNATED IN YOUR INSERT. By the way I Just went over ALL documentation that came with the unit and there was NOTING about setting up via the computer which I tried blindly and was not able to do it. Before setting it up on my phone I had NO ACCESS to the unit via ethernet.

You realize this is the community support forum where members of the public help out?
We're not netgear. We're not paid for this. Just people like you trying to help.
but if you want to be rude and you were like this with the customer service people, I can see why you didn't get great help.

All kinds of Articles out there to help you out. Maybe if you dug a bit deeper you would have found these articles to help you that give information on installing a router using the NG app OR the routers web page: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/R6400.aspx#GettingStarted_CommonTopics
FYI, Being nice in the forums will get you more help than being rude.
Good Luck.

Thank you for reminding me of that fact. but please let me reming you that the fools at Netgear won't talk to a customer in an intelligent manner and forums such as this are often the ONLY place that you can get their attention. If they can see what people are saying about them, possibly they will get it through their think heads what is happening. If you find that abusing yo policies, I am sorry.
Also concerning the guy who wrote"If you had dug a little further". My answer to that is If I had only gone to a company that has even the slightest concern about their customers and place all of this information in a convenient CLEAR place that is easy to find and you DON'T have to DIG for it. For example ASUS. Though I have my problems with them, they post most of their info clearly and conveniently. Or a totally different line of product, companies like 'T'-Mobil what bends over backwards to assist their customers with the best possible information. It's all about 'CUSTOMER SERVICE'. Companies can lie al they want in their advertizing, but when the bricks hit the road People will bail when they can't get it.- FURRYe38Mar 24, 2022Guru - Experienced User
Information is there. It's up to you to use it.
Good Luck.
