Epson WF2860 printer keeps dropping off my home network whenever the computer sleeps or is off.

Using N900 router, model WNDR4500v2, with dual band 5ghz and 2.4ghz.  Printer is Epson WF-2860, OS is Windows 11.  Printer keeps dropping off the home network whenever the computer (Dell 5400 AIO) sleeps or is off.  Epson says this particular printer is not compatible with 5ghz, and can only operate on 2.4ghz.  My network, on the other hand, is running on 5G.  I have had Epson support, Geek Squad support, and knowledgeable friends try to help, but no joy.  Anyone have any ideas, other than get a new printer?

  • That router is a dual band so  it shouldn't matter if the printer is only 2.4ghz.

You can try going into the router and setting the printer with a reserved ip address and see if that helps

An alternative approach – and one that I use on a Canon printer – is to go into the printer's network utility and to tell that it which IP address to use. It should achieve the same result.

I assume that the printer is plugged into the router and using ReadySHARE Printer. (The explanation is a bit thin on useful details.) If not, and it is connected to the PC for sharing, it is bound to go to sleep when the computer is off.
