EVA9000/9150 File Sharing problem

This concerns a Netgear EVA9000. I understand it is the same as the 9150 w/o the hard drive, but mine has the 500GB hard drive installed. I'm running Windows 11 PRO. I downloaded the newest version DEW software I could find, but during setup it keeps telling me my file sharing is not set up. It is DEW setup software version 1.8.0035.  Am I not finding a newer version?

My file sharing is set up. I share files with my wife's computer over our LAN; we can see, edit, copy/paste, and delete each other's files. Sharing is setup for everyone, not just her computer. Or is there something about sharing I'm missing? I can access files with a different device hooked to my TV, so I'm pretty sure it is a software issue.

These are old products in a range that Netgear abandoned long ago. They have not much, if anything, to do with the routers covered in this section.

If anyone knows anything about these things, they probably hang out here:

  • Looks to be more something of a setting on your pc.

do you have your pc set as a private (not public) pc with file sharing on through windows settings?

My computer has ethernet and wireless - both are set to private. I temporarily turned off wireless to check, but still got the file sharing not enabled screen on the config setup.

I have an external hard drive that serves as one of my backups (I also use cloud backup) but of course it will not show up on the network till the computer does.

I have an all-in-one computer all set up but not hooked up in case one of my computers goes bad, I suppose I could use it as a backup and see if the config setup/Netgear software will work with it, but I was trying to keep this simple.
