What steps would I need to follow in netgear for this ?

None. All at the D-Link unit for AP mode.

What that probably means is that you should get the manual for the Dlink router and look for help using it as an Access Point.

It is usually best to do that with the second router offline. Just connected to a PC.
When you have done that, restart the network:
- Turn off and unplug modem.
- Turn off router and computers.
- Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on Access Point computers and rest of network.
Just another user with time on their hands.
