Extender EX6150 questions
Apparently I don't understand my Range Extender. I have a Netgear C7000v2 router, and have just added the Netgear EX6150vs AC1200 Range Extender. All lights on the Extender are green, and on the Netgear Genie site, my Extender is said to be working properly. However, the signal right next to the Extender is only 8-10 MB download, while at the Router it is 150-170. The two are placed about 40 feet apart, with only 1 sheetrock wall between. My devices closest to the Extender (and in fact right next to it: phone, work computer, iPad) all show that slow speed
Here are my questions:
1) how do I know that the Extender is CONNECTED to the router? I have the Extender using the same network names.
2) Should I use the option of different Network names so that I can then select the Extender signal instead of the default same name?
3) Do I need to manually connect each device to the Extender network, and if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

You can log into the extender and check connection status to the main router as well as which devices are connected to it.
you can either log in through mywifiext . net or using the ip address for the extender (find it in the attached devices page on the c7000)
one thing to keep in mind is you will see a significant speed difference from 2.4ghz to 5ghz.
You'll also see half the speed of what the router is putting in for 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Reason why extenders have to go router---extender and then extender---devices and they can't do both at once.
So at best they'll have half the speed of what the router is putting out from each band.
Make sure you're comparing 2.4ghz speed to 2.4ghz and not 5ghz. they won't be close to the same.
