Firmware loading

I have a WNDR3700 version 1 wireless router the firmware i am running is version 1,0.16.98. I was wondering if the WNDR3700 version 2, 3. 4 or 5 firmware could be loaded on my wireless router and would it function properly.  Any thoughts on doing this would  be appreciated.

    No.

    the versions use different hardware.

    don't try to use a V2 firmware on a V1 device.
