Firmware "upgrade"
My model is actually a R6900 but that doesn't show up in the selection to make this post. I made the mistake of "Upgrading" the firmware to V1.0.1.34 yesterday. I should have left it at the old vers...

Leaving aside the question of whether any version actually "works",
visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Downloads. Under Firmware and Software Downloads, look for View
Previous Versions. Download the kit you want. Read the "Release Notes"
file for instructions.

Yes, in the meantime I figured out how to get the original firmware that shipped with the product and loaded it onto the router. I won't make the mistake of upgrading it again. The forum is full of people with other models of routers who upgrade only to experience the same problem of constant loss of internet connectivity.
I spoke too soon. Now I have a brick. I can't connect to it at routerlogin.net and I can't connect to it with NETGEAR Genie. My machine connected to it no longer gets the familiar 192.168.1.x ip address. I am right now on a computer connected to a different router. Looks like a trip to Best Buy for a new router... not one made by Netgear
Did you reset the router to factory settings after the firmware flash?
New firmware sometimes introduces changes that are not compatible with the old configuration.
So while it isn't guaranteed to fix problems a factory reset is the first thing to try if you have issues with new firmware.> [...] Now I have a brick. [...]
There's a TFTP scheme which might help recover it (if you load a
proper firmware image).

I know nothing, but some reports here suggest that, on Windows, the
built-in command-line TFTP client works better than the "tftp2.exe"
program shown there.
