Getting "Invalid Subnet Mask" error when configuring static IP - Netgear R6400

Question

Model: R6400Firmware:&nbsp;V1.0.1.78_1.0.50&nbsp;Trying to set a static IP of 192.168.137.2 with a gateway of 192.168.137.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. I keep getting an invalid subnet mask error. I've tried setting the IP to 192.168.1.1 as well with no luck.&nbsp;

It might be better to start with what you are trying to achieve.
&nbsp;
In other words, why are you trying to set a static IP of 192.168.137.2 with a gateway of 192.168.137.1?

You are trying to fix something that doesn't work?

Maybe there are other ways to achieve that.

Long story short my apartment uses Spectrum community solutions. This means that any personal networking equipment is blacklisted. This also means that hosting servers and such is off the table since I can't set up port forwarding. I got things to work by using network sharing from a windows PC and this is part of the process to get it to work (i.e. you have to set the "host" system as the gateway and assign the router a static IP). I've had this working with a different router but I was speed limited by the WAN and LAN ports so I upgraded to the R6400.
