I have never done this before i bought a 5port Ethernet cable out let i am getting lost how do i add this as extra ports the ones on my Modem is not enough Many thanks Regard Jean

what actual device are you connecting the switch to?
You put "modem".
If its truly a modem only device, for most ISP's you can only connect a single device to it.
If you're wanting more connected, then you need a router or something to assign private IP addresses to.
So again, what modem/router/device are you connecting the switch to?

I'm connecting to a router... they both worked fine until I replaced the router... one of them is ok.. the 2nd extender doesn't want to connect..

You have a modem (which one?) feeding a router (which one?)?
The switch should be at the end of the chain, after the modem and router.
What is this "2nd extender"? The switch? Something else?
The word "extender" has special meaning in network world. It is usually something that extends the stretch of your wifi.
The more you can tell us the better. It cuts down how many questions you have to answer before we know what the problem might be.
