How do I change my NETGEAR router to AP mode? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
Then there is the manual.
AC1600 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look on the router for the label that says "Model Number"
Visit the support pages:

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Use the Router as a Wireless Access Point or something along the same lines. (The exact wording may depend on which AC1600 you own.)
I called Netgear and they wanna charge me $150 to update the security and will be working again. WTF.
Your router may date back to 2105. Rare is the brand that offers free lifetime support for what is essentially an inexpensive consumer product. Even Netgear offers support at far less then $150.
How about $49.99
