I haven’t used my Netgear AC1600 for 1.5 years and I want to use it as a wireless access point. I am not able to change the settings (I can login) but it just says server IP address could not be foun...

When you switch it to AP mode, you'll have to log into the primary router (which is?) to find out what IP address its assigning to the netgear and use that address to access it. Have you done that?

An alternative to that cumbersome process is to look for the IP address if the wifi from the router.
Even better, install the desktop genie for your PC.

Be warned, it is in a RAR file that you have to unpack.
This will then offer a network map showing the IP addresses of attached devices. With luck there will even be a clickable link to your AP.
