michaelkenward I have enabled 'modem' mode in the HUB3.
Ideally I would prefer a Netgear router that still uses the genie web interface as that is what I'm familiar with. Which 'newer' Netgear router would you recommend?
Is the AC type wifi router newer that the N type?
Is the R6300 AC1750 any good?

Does that mean that it is on modem only mode? No router features turned on?
That's the easiest way to get these things to play nicely with another router.

Yes. Your existing Virgin hub is pretty old, but it has AC1600 wifi, unlike your two older Netgear routers, which are slower on the wifi front than your Hub 3. The Hub 3 has generally higher specifications than the Netgear routers.

What do you want to do with this interface? The mobile genie for Android and iOS was withdrawn some years ago. All newer routers have the Nighthawk app.

It depends on what you want to do. Why do you think you need another router?
You already have a capable source of wifi in the Hub 3. If the idea is to get wifi into places that the Hub 3 cannot reach, then you may need an extender rather than another router.
Is the R6300 AC1750 any good?
It is an ageing device, near the bottom of the Netgear range, with wifi specifications much like your Hub 3.
