Help setting up my router
Hey guys so ' trying to finally set up my router in my room but when reading how to set it all up it says i need to plug it into my service provider modem, now do i have to keep it plugged into it the whole time? because my plan was to have it in my room so i have better connection and don't have to use my main one. i currently have it in my room all plugged in and when i pull it up on my device to connect to it, it connects but then nothing loads because there's not connection. if some one can help me out that would be great thanks.
Hi dbaker96,
As the setup procedure suggests, the router does require it to be connected to your ISP's connection via their modem or gateway (modem-router) for the router to get the Internet connection.
1. Does your room have an Ethernet wall patch that connects it to your main connection? If yes, you can have the router connected to that and set it up as an access point.
2. You can check your options on page 45 to 50 on the user manual linked below.
