How to connect WNR 1000v2 to WNDR 3800 as a second router for wifi extender?
Gang -
I currently have a WNDR 3088 router. I do not get reliable signal out on my deck, so I would like to connect an older WNR1000v2 closer to the deck as a second router to extend the wifi range. Do any of you know how I can do that? Thanks!
Jim
You can set it up as a wired access point (AP) quite easily, essentially you;
- Make sure all wireless settings are as you want them in the ‘1000
- Change the DHCP range of the ‘3800 e.g. end at 192.168.1.199
- In LAN Setup for the ‘1000 change the IP address to 192.168.1.200 and disable the DHCP server, then press apply (you will most likely lose communication with it when you press that apply button)
- Connect an Ethernet cable from a ‘1000 LAN port to a ‘3800 LAN port, nothing connected to the ‘1000 WAN (Internet) port
- Power cycle the ‘1000

Do you have the same kind of setup?
What's the model number of your other router?
Kindly provide more details so we may assist you better.
Looking forward to your response.
