How to dispose of WNDR 4500 router

I have a WNDR4500 N900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router.  I have replaced it with new equipment and I am trying to figure out how to dispose of it.  I can take it to an e-waste recycling center, but...

Yes.

Press the reset button for 10 seconds then then release. Let the router process it for 30 seconds, then power off.
