You can see the firmware version there.
To see if it is latest check the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
That page will have a library of firmware for your device.Then there is this:

Have you tried a factory reset on the router, use a web browser to set up the router from scratch.

Then after it's setup, try using the NH app to log in?
Security on the app is not there to see if the router is up to date. It's there for Armor
