Hello michaelkenward and thanks for getting back with me. This morning I tried again to burn the zip file and got the same results. I didn't see any options for unzipping the file prior to burning. This attempt was done from another computer just to rule out any unknowns. Then I started doing more searches for a solution and tried the route of doing the update directly from the NETGEAR Genie application. This worked fine and I am now uptodate on my router firmware. Still don't know what I was missing the other way but the Genie method worked, so the issue has gone away. Thanks again

Glad it worked. These days I have all but given up on burning files to CD. I either use them as they come or I out them on a USB drive. Much easier to manage, and doesn't even need a CD drive.
