I'm having trouble using obitalk on my router. It disconnected every time I call or receive calls. I saw several posts for download firmware and was wondering if it needs to upgrade and resolve the problem. My Netgear R6300 router is up to V1.0.2.78_1.0.58. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Southpaw2,
1. Does the issue persist when you bypass the router and connect straight to the modem?
2. Please make sure that the ports are forwarded if there are any. You can contact the manufacturer to verify.

Sorry, but I am so confused I'm about to cry. I started having problems watching videos, and then browsing got very slow too. I spent hours and hours on the phone with Charter, and they finally came to the conclusion that it was the router, which I rent from them - Netgear R6300 v.2. I read that the first step should be to update the firmware, so I tried to do that with the Genie online. It checked and said there were no new updates. I looked on the website and it said there was a newer version. I downloaded and unzipped it, but when I tried to upload it gave me various error messages. I tried to do a wireless conection but wasn't sure what to unplug and what to plug in. There is an ethernet cord between the modem and the router, so I tried unplugging each one and putting the other end into my computer. Sometimes the file would start to upload and then stop in about 10 seconds. I don't know how many messages I got, but it would warn that internet was going to be disconnected and then stop during the upload and say the internet was disconnected. Then I downloaded the Genie app for my phone and it wouldn't log in because it said the password was wrong? When my attempts with wired connection failed, I tried doing it through wifi and of course it didn't work. How can you upload a file when it cuts off the internet connection??? It says my bufferbloat is F whatever that is. Now I can't even get in because it says my password is wrong all of the sudden. Sorry this is so long, but I even left out half of it. I'm just an old lady and I'm trying my best to make this better, but run into problems with everything I do. I don't know about port forwarding. Why would I need to change that? Should I just get a new router? I don't know what else to do. If Charter comes out here they will probably charge me enough that I could have just bought a new one. When you say contact the manufacturer, what do you mean? I thought this was the manufacturer. Congratulations if you managed to read this whole message.
