The address change is due to the NETGEAR router detecting another router on your network. Make sure the Cox gizmo is set to bridge mode (if possible), or you'll be in a double NAT situation where you'll have 2 LANs that can't talk to each others.

What is that cable modem?
The exact number is not what matters, but the features it offers. If it is a modem/router then the answer from microchip8 may well apply.
The fact that you get IP addresses of 10.xx.xx.x or xx suggests that you have two routers there. (No need to mask the full IP address, it is on your local network and no one can get at it from the outside world.) Your messages haven't told us what this Arris Cable Modem is.
I assume that your R6129 is really the R6120. If so, Don't expect ,much from it, the thing is limited to 100 Mbps.
According to Netgear's manual for this device, not always the most reliable source of information, the LAN and WAN ports support only 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX. That makes it slower than many newer internet services and most modern network hardware. This may not matter to you, but be warned that it will hobble you if you ever sign up for faster Internet, anything over than 100 Mbps is a waste of your money with that router.

Thank you for the reply. I am currently using the following: Netgear Wi-Fi Router Dual Band AC1200, Model No. R6120-100-NAS and Arris Surfboard DOCIS 3.0 Cable Modem, Model No. SB6183. These are the devices I had installed originally and after I uninstalled the Cox Panoramic Wi-Fi Gateway Router and Cable Modem. So my original IP Address was 192.xxx.x.x or xx. After uninstalling the Cox Router/Modem and reinstalling the Netgear/ Arris devices my IP Address now reads 10.xx.xx.x or xx. I am basically trying to comfirm this is all legit. Someone had mentioned that IP Addresses beginning with 10 are for businesses and I am not a business. Any help would be appreciated
