Answer: no factory reset.
As I didn't see this issue coming I didn't make a backup just before upgrading.
Drawback of the reset is I have redo all setting.
Nothing in the release notes of this update btw suggested a factory reset.

I recommend after you reset and setup from scratch, make a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed:

I obviously can't do the reset via the login page.
I did push the little reset button but that didn't change the issue.
Should the reset button be pushed for some time to do a factory reset?
I don't see such a remark in the manual.- My last backup is about two years ago and I change some stuff in between.
I agree on making a new one once I am done.
