Minecraft Port Fowarding
So I have a D6220 router (not an option to put in for some reason) I’ve been trying to forward my ports to play minecraft (25565) with my friends for at least 2 days now, I’ve watched videos and done ...

The _numbers_. The actual _numbers_. Not "like xxx.xx.xx.xx" or
"the number i get when i search for my public IP". The actual
_numbers_. I don't even need _all_ of them; the first half would be

If your ISP is using carrier-grade NAT, then your router will not get
a public WAN/Internet IP address, and so you will not be able to make
port forwarding work.
You could try asking your ISP if you can get a public address. They
might charge extra for that, if they'll do it at all. Some ISPs dislike
servers for residential customers.

Connected to what?

that address match your public IP address?

That non-description conveys no useful information to the
non-psychics in your audience. Who also can't see your port-forwarding
rule(s).

It's nice that you're happy, but, again, no idea of which
"tutorials"; no idea of what you did.
> [...] but it's still not working
No idea of how you determined that, either.
None of that is a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

so basically from the start i find my IPv4 from cmd ipconfig, enter that into the port forwarding/trigging section press add and enter the ports i want forwarded which is (25565) click apply and that should be it but when i go to any port checking sites it will say that the 25565 port isnt open with the server running or not. I dont see any error messages or anything like that it just doesnt show up that the ports are open on sites like canyouseeme.org
One thing you said though was if my public IP matched what it said in the Advanced Home page and it doesnt, when i go to look at it the box that says "get dynamically from ISP" is checked
Sorry if its too vague but thats practically all the info i know

That address could change at any time. Visit
http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look for
Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for "Address
Reservation".> [...] enter that into the port forwarding/trigging section press add
> and enter the ports i want forwarded which is (25565) [...]I still can't see any of that. There are some parameters in a
port-forwarding rule: Name, Type (protocols), External ports, Internal
ports, and Server IP Address. What, exactly, are yours?> [...] if my public IP matched what it said in the Advanced Home page

I didn't say "in the Advanced Home page". There are many things on
that page. What I requested was, specifically:ADVANCED > ADVANCED Home : Internet Port : Internet IP Address
What is that value? "a.b" out of "a.b.c.d" would be enough.
> [...] when i go to look at it the box that says "get dynamically from
> ISP" is checked"go" _where_, to look at _what_? "Get Automatically from ISP" is not
a problem. The actual _address_ which you "Get Automatically from ISP"
may be a problem.> Sorry if its too vague [...]
It is. Actual numbers would be more useful than your descriptions of
those numbers.- ZoiinkzzJan 06, 2020Aspirant

I went through the steps the manual showed and in LAN Setup which is where i reserve and IP adress the one i get from cmd ipconfig was already on the reserve list
>some paremeters in a port fowarding...
So for the name i just named it "Minecraft" so i remebered what it was for, Service Type is TCP/UDP, External Starting Point: 25565, Internal STarting Point: 25565 and the internal IP address is the one I get by selecting the computer im using which is also the same as the IP I get from cmd ipconfig
ADVANCED>ADVANCED home : internet port : internet IP address
I'm not too sure what you mean by value here im sorry but it dispays like xxx.xx.xx.xx but that number does not match the number i get when i search for my public IP
>Get what from where
From here i go to the Internet Setup tab and find the section that says "Internet IP Address" and just below that is the box that is checked "Get Dynamically From ISP"
