Called tech support and they wont honor the hardware warranty if I dont pay for software support first and told me at was my fault for not called every 3 months (which as I mentioned before no one ever told me before today)..
Two things. Who did you call? If it was a number you found on a web search, it wasn't Netgear.
Netgear does not post phone numbers you can call. But there are crooks out there who create sites that look like Netgear and will lead you to scam merchants who will demand money. They may also ask for access to your PC. Do that and they can wreak havoc.
On the warranty, you don't need to pay to start the RMA process.
How do I request a Return Material Authorization (RMA)? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
By the way, feel free to trot off to another section if you have the inclination and time to spare. But it isn't necessary. Your question fits in here as well as anywhere.
- ChefziggyNov 19, 2021AspirantI called the number that was on the registration page when I registered my product, its the same number that was listed on the BBB website for netgear as well. Same number thats on the my.netgear website under contact us section.

Sadly, that misses all the "get out clauses".
