100 feet is pushing it for WiFi from a mainstream router. Fine in theory, but real world experience may be different. You may have to look for something designed for the job.
The R6400v2 is based on an original from 2015, which was a middle of the road device.
You don't say which Netgear extender you bought. That is more important than the router. One of those cheap plug into the main devices might not work.
Then there is this:
The camera recognizes the extender address, but will not connect.
Can you explain what happens? What is this "extender address"? How is the extender set up? WiFi to the router or wired as an access point?
