The wnr1000 is a very base model N150 router from 2009.
Problem with it is that its 2.4ghz and slow at that. 2.4ghz is slow as well as its sensitive to interference.
With more and more people getting wireless devices, 2.4ghz is congested.
You can potentially try switching which channels its broadcasting on.
Or even try a factory reset. Sometimes on older devices, an occassional reset doesn't hurt.
Or you can look at upgrading to something a little more recent like a dual band router.
You can also try a different power adapter to see if the other one isn't failing. Besides that, it might be time for a newer router.
