A power supply isn't a bad option to try. but if you don't have one from something else to try, I wouldn't buy one. The money would be better saved for upgrading. Again, its a bit old of a devices.
Make sure you have the exact same voltage and polarity. You can have higher amperage though
Thanks all. I tried a separate power adapter. It fixed things for a few mins then back to slow. I opted to buy the Nighthawk AC1900 combo unit.
