The solution was turn off Wireless Isolation setting in the router. I found this out later and thought I should share the solution ..in this case not olny does this feature block commutation to just wired units but also to all IP address connected to the router.

It seem that there is something on the laptop that blocks the connection.
The laptop seems to get a valid IP address from the router but unable to ping. One possible reason that could be blocking it would be the firewall.
Try to disable any firewall/anti-virus on the laptop.
Check as well your sharing options such as the File and printer sharing.
By the way, what's the exact model number of the printer? Is the printer wireless?
How do you print to the printer using your desktop connection?
