N600 WiFi Dual Band Router-Wired connection does not work
I have a N600 WiFi Dual Band Router, model no WNDR3400, and the wifi works but not the wired connection w Mac OS Monterey 12.7.6 (this is the latest I can get, not supported anymore).
Strangely, the wired connection does work w another laptop (PC).
Have tested exchanging the ethernet cable (did not help), and will check using another Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter when I get one.
Is there a new driver I should upload, or anything I have missed?

Not that strange. To me this suggests that the problem is with the device that does not work. The Mac. Nothing to do with the router, which does not have discriminate between PCs and Macs.
In the case of Windows, it is well known for blocking access to networks that it does not recognise. You have to go into the PC to tell it that the network is safe. That is a one-off tweak. Again, nothing to do with the router.
Perhaps Macs have similar "protection".
Is there a new driver I should upload, or anything I have missed? The router does not have "drivers". They are down to the things that connect over the LAN.
The WNDR3400 dates back to 2010. It has technology from that era. It has LAN ports that are limited to 100 Mbps. Newer models support 1000 Mbps and faster.
Might be time to get a newer router.
Just another user with time on their hands.
