N600 Wireless Router works with Apple but not with PC
Today my N600 wireless router stopped working on the two wirelessly connected PCs, but continues to work fine with iPad4 and iPhone5s. It also works fine with a hard connection of a PC to DSL modem ...

EEM3993 Make the names different from each other for identification which band you're connected to. It's possible that other wireless networks causes interference on your laptop. Try changing the channel. Best channels to try are 1, 6 and 11. If changing channel didn't work, try to do a 30-30-30 reset.
1. With the unit powered on, press and hold the reset button on the back of unit for 30seconds.
2. Without releasing the reset button, unplug the unit and hold reset for another 30 seconds.
3. Power on the unit while STILL pushing the reset button and count for another 30 seconds before letting it go.After resetting, reconfigure the router. Let us know what happens.

ElaineM,
The name for my wireless connection is quite unique and unlike any of the others in my neighborhood. (I live in a college town and suddenly, with the end of summer, there are lots of wireless networks around. Could that be causing problems?)
I am able to connect to the internet with no problem via my iPhone "Personal Hotspot" from my laptop.
I don't know the current version of the firmware on the router as it is disconnected at the moment. (I'm using a very old Netgear G router.) I did check for firmware update via http://www.rouiterlogin.net yesterday when I had it connected and got the message that I had the most current version.
More ideas?
Thanks again for helping me troubleshoot this.

ElaineM,
Thanks! The 30-30-30 reset worked. I have discovered that my laptop wireless card only uses 2.4HGz so only the iPad and iPhone were using 5GHz. I'm wondering now if the problem was only with 2.4GHz.
I have set the 2.4 and 5GHz with different names but the same password as you suggested.
We have old cordless phones that use 2.4 GHz. I know that causes problems sometimes with my old router but doesn't seem to be an issue with the N600. The router band options on the N600 for 2.4 GHs run from 1-11 and also includes an "auto" setting (the default). If it is set to "auto" would that avoid problems of interference with the cordless landlines and all the other local wireless networks?
For now the problem seems to be resolved. Thanks so much for troubleshooting this for me!
