N900 WiFi Dual Band Gigabit Router will not start WiFi
I just purchased a new N900, Model WNDR4500 and when I first connected it, all went well. The top two lights came on, eventually turned steady green and the 2.4G and 5G lifgts lit up. But when I pressed the WPS button at the top of the front panel, the 2.4G and 5G lights went out and the router seemed to reboot as the top two lights went out briefly, and then came on amber again. When the top two lights finally turned steady green again, the 2.4G and 5G lights never came on.
I waited at least ten minutes, still nothing.
I disconnected everything and reconnected, being careful to follow the instructions. Same result. I tried the factory reset and reconnecting. Same result. Two hours later, here I sit, staring at the top two steady green lights and no WiFi.
My computer is a Dell Inspiron running Windows7, if that has any bearing. My ISP is CableOne and I'm connected through their ARRIS cable modem and included WiFi.
HELP!
I'm almost embarrassed to say, but when I thought I was pressing the WPS button, I had inadvertantly pressed the WiFi button just below the WPS button. That simply turned the WiFi off and no amount of "fixes" helped.
In my own defense, there was absolutely nothing in the printed documentation that even hinted at the simple solution. I wasn't about to press it intentionally for fear of making things worse. đ The support tech that got my ticket probably had a good laugh at my expense. Can't blame him though.

Return it and look for something else WNDR is all older style hardware and the 4500 seems to very problematic. In My Opinion.

Problem solved. Tech support finally responded to my ticket and I was up and running in minutes. Too bad the instruction guide that comes with the router is so short on troubleshooting info.
