Netgear 6250 5G not being displayed on HP laptop

If this is built into the laptop, then you are stuffed. Laptops are not amenable to replacing bits and pieces.
If 5G is essential to you, then a USB "dongle" is your best bet. Then disable the on-board wifi and use the dongle.
But is 5G really that important? Do you sit there wondering why things are so slow? Or is it just a nuisance that you can't get the best speed out of the R6250?

Your best bet is to talk to HP.
I assume that you have checked that the laptop really does support 5G. Has it ever connected to any 5G network?

Looks like the WLAN Card Ralink RT3290 only supports 2.4Ghz and not 5G. Any suggestions for upgrading the card? Thanks for the responses! Much appreciated!

Mostly a nuisance I guess, also annoyed that this newer laptop doesn't support something my 6 year old Toshiba laptop did. I do sit and wonder why this laprtop is so much slower. I'll check out the USB option and see if its worth it. Thanks again for the help!
