netgear cable modem cm1000

I have a netgear modem, nighthawk router, and orbi mesh network. Every day I lose internet and have to reset my modem. How do I know if this is a modem problem or something happening with my internet provider, rcn??

  • Cheat. 

    directly connect a pc/laptop to the modem and just use that for a long enough period. 

    If it drops, then its a line or modem issue. 

    If it stays stable and continues to work, then its time to look at the router.

      I already know it is either the line or modem so that doesn't really help, but thank you.
      Our TV is connected directly to the modem and I recently was connected when the problem occurred. The internet started to slow down and mess with the video, until there was no service at all. This happened before the wifi went out. Does that help with the diagnosis? Thoughts?

        Do you have a screen snip of the modems cable connection page and event logs?
