Netgear Mesh system

I have the netgear orbi RBR 20 and one satellite.  Lately, I have been having problems searching internet sites.  Errors like 401 Unauthorized and errors searching sites..."Log in to costco.ca:80,  Your password will be sent unencrytped. "  and then it asks for my username and password.

I have seen numerous complaints on this community about the mesh system.   And I am not a techie person.   I called Netgear for support.  It's about $150 for support for the year.  Is it better to pay for the support or just get another router, not the mesh system.  Thank you

  • right. You have a reasonable choice. Investing in infrastructure to improve the system will bring many benefits.

When you do _what_?  That could caused be a wrong password (for
    something).

Port 80 ("http://") does not use encryption.  Port 443 ("https://")
does.  Your browser might complain if it sees a password request on a
page loaded using port 80.  Again, the non-psychics in your audience
    can't see what you're doing.

_How_, exactly?  If you didn't start at "http://support.netgear.com",
then you might have reached some scam-artist outfit.  (Which might
explain that first reply.  No doubt, sending money to someone else
_will_ "bring many benefits" to someone else.)
