NETGEAR N600 WiFi Cable Modem Router C3700 Can it be a Wifi booster?

We no longer have cable, so we don't need this as a router. But with permission, we get internet WiFi from the next door neighbor. Can this Netgear N600 Wifi Cable Modem Router Model C3700 be set up as a WiFi Booster?

  • No this combo device doesn't have that option. You can disable the routing functions of it but not the modem functions. Sorry.

Does that mean that you simply connect your device(s) to your
      neighbor's wireless router?

Define "WiFi Booster".  If you can run an Ethernet cable between the
C3700 and the neighbor's router, then you should be able to configure
the C3700 as a wireless access point.  See, for example:

            https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1463500

That's written for a C6300-as-WAP, but the steps are about the same for
any other router (any make/model) which lacks a one-step WAP option,
      including yours.

Otherwise, a Netgear Cxxxx cable-TV modem+router doesn't have much in
the way of different modes of operation.  Especially if an Ethernet
cable connection is not an option.

Not really.  See above.  It doesn't exactly "disable [...] the modem
functions", but it does evade/ignore them.

antinode  I'll give you that. I've never set it up and that thread doesn't have any responses to if it works. so maybe it'll work. Its not an officially supported mode though and I've never used it. I hope it does work though as I find it a bit sad that the combo devices don't have the option to disable the modem function and support other modes.
