Netgear N600 WNDR3700v2 slow internet wifi connection

Experiencing slow internet connection that also occasionally drops out. Looking for assistance to trouble shoot the issue.

What I have done so far:

After experiencing this issue, I accessed the wireless router and saw that an update to firmware to v1.1.0.14 was available, so loaded the firmware. I also found a thread on the NetGear community that suggested adjusting the network channel (I selected channel 11) and mode (I selected up to 130 Mbps), as well as adjusting the fragmentation length and CTS/RTS thresholds to 2304. After implementing these changes, we are still experiencing the slow wireless internet connection.

Additonal information that may be useful:

My N600 WNDR3700v2 is connected to the internet via a Thomson cable modem DCM476. I hard wired my computer to the modem and ran a speed test, which showed that the cable modem speeds matched my internet subscription. We have had this same equipment since 2011, and the only adjustment recently was going from a 25 Mbps to a 30 Mbps data package (I don't think that we would really see a difference in speed for such a small change).

Location of equipment, as well as number of devices has not changed.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

How slow Is SLOW?  Great information with the exception of SLOW....... Slow = what?

Things to check WMM enabled and WPA2 used for security

    Try a factory default,

Press and hold reset until Power Led Flashes, If done correctly ALL users settings will be set to defaults.

The router just might be failing which means replace it.

SEARAY - thanks for the quick reply.

Not sure how I can describe slow - slower than what we were experiencing before last week, with the wifi now also cutting in and out pretty regularly throughout the day. An example that I can provide to describe how slow is that when I go to access a website, I can count up to 10 seconds before it loads, where it may have taken less than 2 before hand.

Current security option is set to WPA2-PSK. I don't know what WMM is, so can't tell you if it is enabled.

I can try the factory default, but throught I would provide above before I do that. The router is quite old, so the issues arising when we changed our data package may be coincidental, and the unit may need to be replaced.
