Netgear R6300V2 max ethernet speed

Hey Guys

I just upgraded my NBN from FTTN to FTTP and I have chosen 1000/50 for the speed. However I am noticing I am getting around 600/40.

I currently have a Netgear R6300V2 and did not know if I would need to upgrade to a newer router to get closer to the 1000/50 speed. I have had the router for quite a number of years.

Any advice would be great. I am primarily connecting my devices to Ethernet

  • I would. That 600-800mbps is about you're going to get from that router over wired.

When it came out in 2012, it was a pretty solid router. But there wasn't that much for gigabit service at those times.

So there wasn't the emphasis on wan/lan speed. And many things could slow it down.

Before replacing it, I'd try a factory reset and test your speeds with everything in the default configuration. That might get you closer to that 800mbps. But your wifi will still be pretty slow. Just for that reason alone, I'd be looking at upgrading.

You can check out its tested speeds and see how it did.
