Netgear WGR614 v9 setup as repeater
Firstly sorry if I have posted into the wrong section, this is my first time posting. If it's wrong please do let me know.
I just have a question please. I want to setup my Netgear WGR614 v9 so that I can use it's ethernet ports and WIFI without having a modem connected. I currently have this router plugged into a laptop which is bridging it's WIFI connection to the ethernet and acting as a modem. What I want to do is to not have to have this laptop setup every time I need the router to go online and for the router to connect wirelessly to my router/modem downstairs. I believe this is possible but I couldn't work things out...
My router/modem combo thing downstairs is a Virgin Media SuperHub 3. I have the MAC address and IP number of the Virgin router already, I just don't quite know how to configure it within the Netgear router.
If anyone can help that would be great.
Thank you :)

I'm not a fan of throwing electronics away (as my storage bins show) but that device is originally from 2003.
Its almost 2 decades old. And at that, its a wireless G device.
Several generations behind in security, technology, performance, etc.
Its performance is anemic.
Instead of fighting to try to make it work, look at purchasing a half decent wireless extender.
They can be picked up for pretty reasonable and give you much better performance

Oh yeah I completely agree, I'm not a fan either of throwing away electronics either... as my storage bins show also!!
But gosh I didn't realise it was that old... I know this was my first wireless router when I got broadband internet around 2009 ish. The proformance compared to what I have now is very slow although, it was blazing fast compared to what I had prior!
But thank you, I've just been having a little look online and will probably buy myself a wireless extender then with ethernet. If I can find a easy way to get the old router going then I may but as you said it's very old and probably not worth the effort anymore.
Thank you again :smileyhappy:
