Newer firmware version posted, but my R6300v2 router says none available

On the product support page for my R6300v2 router it offers version 1.0.4.52 as the latest firmware version (dated 2021). My router says it has firmware version 1.0.4.46, but when I click "Firmware Version Check", it says "No new firmware version available."

What's going on? Is the Check function no longer accessing the database at Netgear correctly? Are there additional incompatible hardware revisions of this model unknown to me and never mentioned by Netgear? I don't want to install a wrong firmware version and brick the router.

I know how to update the firmware manually. The question is should I? Is the newer version a correct version for my router?

I bought the R6300v2 (newer than the original R6300) in 2017. It has been a rock-solid home router for me ever since, the only router I've ever owned that doesn't need rebooting on a regular basis to keep working properly. I'm never in a hurry to replace something that's working well just because it's old. It supports a network of several gigabit ethernet switches connected to computers, servers and media players around the house, plus a dual-band WiFi network of mobile devices and dozens of smart home devices, with a wired remote AP. It doesn't support every advanced router function, but it has been remarkably problem-free.
