Nighthawk AC1000
Last night I set up my router to turn off at night & turn back on in the morning. It never came back on. I don't have anything hard wired, so what do I do to get back into the router settings to de...
I forgot to mention I did turn the router & modem off & back on in the sequence you mentioned, but I did not turn off the devices connected to them. The Modem is from Spectrum. I can't give the specifics on it, because I'm not home now.
So I just ordered the Nighthawk Wifi 6 Router RAX54S from Amazon. It says it will be here tomorrow morning. Hopefully its a good upgrade & that I can learn it quickly. Maybe I can experiment with programming the settings to turn off just one of the bands at night first, so I can use the other band to get back into the settings if something goes wrong with my initial attempt. Bummer about the old one. I just spent a lot of time yesterday learning about how to set it to go off at night & on in the morning. Maybe the learning curve will help with the new one.
Now I don't think what I just purchased in a panic is not going to work. The reviews state that an app is required to set it up & that you need to be connected to the net on your phone to use the app. So for someone like me that doesn't have a hard wired way to connect, that won't work.

You can set up the RAX54S in the same way that you set up the R6080.
Every device from Netgear now talks about using the app for set up. That is not essential.
And the controls on your new router will be very similar to the old one.

Feed in your RAX54S model number and check the documentation for your hardware.There may also be some helpful videos on what to do.

I mention it because Netgear gave up on supplying paper manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.Anything in the box with the router will refer to the Nighthawk app. Many experienced users prefer the manual approach. But don't be intimidated by the app. It can have its uses.
You say that you don't have a wired connection. You can also use a web browser on your WiFi device to get in there. Just connect to the WiFi using the SSID on the default details on the new router. Then take it from there.

Thank you for the encouragement & the help. I was able to get the RAX54v2 set up & going. I changed the router password, the network names & passwords & set up a guest network. But I don't see a way to turn off the wps feature. I do caregiving & sometimes take in people in emergency situations. I'd prefer they attach their devices to the guest network, at least I until they earn my trust. Do you know if there's a way to turn off WPS? I was able to do it with the old router, but don't see that option with the new one. I then considered enabling access control to prevent more devices from being added, but I don't see a way to enable it for only the main network & not the guest network. Any ideas on this? I may need to open a new thread for this question...
