ORBI RBR50 can't check for firmware updates

When I log in and ask my ORBI RBK50 to check for firmware updates it checks for several mintues and they tells me there is a problem getting updates. I've rebooted and tried several times. Netgear offers no help without a subscription. Help? Thanks.
