Official netgear support says up to 6 satellites with a max of 2 in daisy chain setup. You can add more than that but you start seeing performance degrade.

The main difference in terms of speeds is going to be the RBS50 series support the faster 1733mpbs backhaul versus the 20-40 series only support an 866mbps backhaul.
