Orbi satellite located downstairs has slow download speed

I have an Orbi mesh network with the main router upstairs and the satellite downstairs. The download speed when downstairs is half the half the speed when I’m upstairs
1. I’ve updated the firmware on the satellite and rebooted it
2. How can I ensure that I’m connected to the satellite?
