Please help. My Netgear R6400 stopped responding
I can't get the version number but I remember it is a R6400 v2. I was trying to set up a WiFi AP and I think I set up the subnet mas wrong. I was trying to set my Netgear router up behind my new...

That is not possible if you put the into AP mode, which is what you said in your first message.

I can't figure out how to configure the Netgear without an internet connection, and the only connection I can get is on the AT&T.Here's what I do:
- Turn off R6400 from unplug from network
- Unplug PC from network
- Turn off PC
- Plug R6400 into PC.
- Turn on R6400
- Aim browser at routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1
- Put R6400 into AP mode.
- Turn off R6400
Now you can reassemble your network with the PC connected to the modem/router.
When you plug the R6400 into the router, you will have to track down the IP address that the router has allocated to it. Look for a page with a list of attached devices.
You could even try doing that now. Find that page in your BGW320. Look for something that could be the R6400 and aim a browser at it.
It took me years to get the Netgear configured the way I wanted, especially since I'm no expert on that.Only you know how you configured your network and why it took so long, but if you have changed the modem/gateway between you and the Internet, many things will be different. The easiest things to change are the wifi SSID and password. Just read the instructions.
If you want to use the R6400 as your router – possibly not a good idea with something as old as something from 2015 – then you need to work out how to put your BGW320 into "bridge" (modem only) mode.
Or just dump the R6400 and use the new BGW320 to run your network.

did you factory reset it? easy way to get back in.

I tried the factory reset but still can't get back to the netgear Genie user interface. I just changed ISP to AT&T BGW320 fiber modem/router. I've been trying to set up so I can use the R6400 to manage my wired and wireless connections, but can't figure out how to do that setup from the AT&T interface. This is the page, but I don't know what to put in there to allow the R6400 to cascade behind the AT&T BGW. It took me years to get the Netgear configured the way I wanted, especially since I'm no expert on that. Can you please help me?

I was thinking about dumping the R6400 and getting something newer. I think I got confused with another question. I did not set the R6400 as an AP. It was not to extend the wifi signal...
Thanks for all the suggestions. It is hard to say which I accepted as the solution. I tried all to get my R6400 interface back up, but nothing worked. I have a limited knowledge of networking, so I went back to my study guide book on Cisco CNA. I really do have to polish up on that, no matter what else I do.
For a while I'm taking the last solution (dumping the R6400 and letting the BGW3200 handle my network - not the final solution I want). I did order an Orbi mesh router (but I never needed anything to extend my wifi signal from the R6400 to my entire house - it worked just fine until I switched to AT&T fiber, except for the speed and bandwidth on Comcast/Xfinity).
I'll see what I've learned while waiting for delivery. Thanks a lot for your help.
