poor link rate on PL1000
I just installed my new PL 1000 to my Virginmedia hub3 M350. The LED on Pick A plug on the plug connected to my computer is constantly red. The Pick a Plug LED on the plug connected to the router is green.
I have followed all the trouble shooting instructions to no use. I should be geeting much stronger link rate than under 50Mbps. Any idea how to improve the rate link?
Thanks

Problem with powerline devices is how many things impact it.
Everyone sees its a "1000mbps" device. That'd be under optimal conditions, in a lab, etc. In the real world, powerline is even more over inflated on speeds than wifi (imo). But what connection it does have, tends to be fairly stable and low latency.
Things that impact speeds or cause interference
1. old/bad/cheap/improper wiring
2. high draw appliances
3. gfci outlets
4. arc fault outlets
5. surge protectors
6. distance. your outlets might be right next to each other but be on seperate circuits. so what you think might be only 6ft apart, is actually a 100ft. difficult to know
7. seperate circuits. speeds drop quickly when you're on different circuits
8. old/bad/cheap/poorly made electronics can inject interference into a power system
9. electronics going bad cause cause the same.
I usually tell people to test powerline devices on the same circuit and see how they perform. That'll be their best connection and if they work fine on that, they're usually good and its more an issue of home setup/distance/etc.
I'd also advise reading a few tested reviews on that device or a simlar in performance device to see what you can reasonably expect for performance.
Powerline devices don't have much in common with the routers discussed around here.
As well as the advice from plemans you might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
